3 Tips for Planning the Best High School Reunion

High school reunions – while some people live for them, others dread these often mundane events. But what if we told you that your next high school reunion could be a fun and exciting event for everyone involved?! Depending on how long it’s been since your graduation, reunions often become awkward and forced, causing many of your classmates to skip out on this great opportunity for connection.

At Stokely Event Center, we believe that, with proper planning, you too can host a high school reunion that is remembered for years to come!

1. Form a Planning Committee

The first step in planning the best high school reunion possible is to form a planning committee. If you think back on your high school experience, you will likely remember a handful of students that were always able to get a party started. The most successful high school reunions have classmates from all circles in attendance – your planning committee members can have a great influence on this!

2. Plan Fun Activities to Encourage Participation

Is there anything worse than staring across the room at another individual, trying to think of some random conversation starter? Conversations may flow freely amongst your classmates. However, it is always best to assume that this will not be the case. After all, lots of time has passed since the last time you were all in the same room!

Think back on your high school experience – were there activities that your class enjoyed during pep rallies, school dances, or sporting events? Recreate those fun memories to encourage participation!

At Stokely Event Center, we provide a wide variety of free-to-play arcade games. Some of the games we currently offer include pinball, skeeball, and shuffleboard ensuring that there is never a dull moment. We also have over 300 nostalgic Tulsa signs and vintage Route 66 memorabilia to keep your guests entertained!

As the evening is winding down, take advantage of our audio and visual system. Showcase some of your favorite memories from high school. In your invitation, ask your classmates to forward any photos or videos they have kept to compile into a fun slideshow! This can be a great way to reminisce and remember the times you spent together.

3. Make Sure Your Reunion is Accessible

Finally, it is important to remember that your classmates likely do not live in the same place that they did years ago. To encourage attendance, ensure that your high school reunion is accessible to guests visiting from out of town. This includes selecting a venue that is easy to locate and centrally located for locals. It is also important to provide plenty of parking for out-of-town guests.
